Catalytic Reaction Sets: A First-Principle Approach to the Evolution of Communication
In: DTIC (2005)
Abstract: This report results from a contract tasking Universidade de Sao Paulo as follows: The Grantee will investigate how the information processing capability of an agent (i.e., the learning algorithm the agent uses to infer the meaning of a signal it receives and to decide which signal to emit given the environment variables) determines the structure of the language that emerges in the population. ; The main results of the research activities supported by EOARD were made public in the three papers published in the Proceedings of the 2005 International Conference on Integration of Knowledge Intensive Multi-Agent Systems (KIMAS 2005), Eds. C. Thompson and H. Hexmoor, ISBN 0-7803-9013-X, and attached to this report: 1) Evolution of communication in a community of simple-minded agents, 2) Minimal Models for Text Production and Zipf's Law, and 3)Meaning Creation and Modeling Field Theory. The original document contains color images.
