Abstract: In this hour long video, transcribed with preliminary translations into Spanish and English, Tiri tells nine traditional stories to Uboye Gaba. ; En este video de una hora de duración, transcrito con traducciones preliminares al español e inglés, Tiri cuenta nueve historias tradicionales a Uboye Gaba. ; In 2011, the collaborative project Waorani started, involving the researcher Casey High, from Goldsmiths University of London, the north American researcher Connie Dickinson, and the young Waorani, Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba and Oswando Nenquimo as native documentalists. The main objective of the project is to register cultural practices that cover a broad range of topics and contexts, from rituals and traditional stories to daily life conversations. The project also aims at producing a database including a lexicon of at least 6000 words as well as a grammatical outline of the language. The project received funding from the Hans Rausing Endangered Language Fund, SOAS, London, for three years. ; En 2011, comenzó el proyecto de colaboración Waorani, que involucró al investigador Casey High, de Goldsmiths University of London, al investigador norteamericano Connie Dickinson, y los jóvenes Waorani, Ramón Gaba, Jorge Gaba y Oswando Nenquimo como documentalistas nativos. El objetivo principal del proyecto es registrar prácticas culturales que cubren una amplia gama de temas y contextos, desde rituales e historias tradicionales hasta conversaciones de la vida cotidiana. The stories are: 1) The man who went into the earth; 2) The man from across the great river; 3) The flood; 4) The boa who ate the people; 5) The man who was swallowed by a boa; 6) The stingray; 7) The man who thought he could out jump a jaguar; 8) The evil spider monkey, Nagañene; 9) How the devil caused a man to become lost. ; En este video de una hora, Tiri cuenta nueve historias tradicionales que se transcriben y tienen traducciones preliminares al español y al inglés. Las historias son: 1) El hombre que entró en la tierra; 2) El hombre del otro lado del gran río; 3) El diluvio; 4) La boa que comió al pueblo; 5) El hombre que fue tragado por una boa; 6) La raya; 7) El hombre que pensó que podía saltar mejor que un jaguar; 8) El malvado mono araña, Nagañene; 9) Cómo el diablo hizo que un hombre se perdiera. ; Wao Terero is an unclassified language spoken by some 2,800 Waorani who live in the western Amazon area in the provinces of Pastaza, Napo and Orellana in Ecuador. ; Uboye Gaba nació en la comunidad Wao Toñampari. Sus padres son Amo Gaba y Ñai Caiga. Su pareja es Marci y tiene dos hijas. Tiene su bachillerato en contabilidad. Él es fotógrafo y sabe grabar videos, hacer documentales y otros, además experto en transcripción y traducción y sabe manejar varios programas lingüísticos necesarios para un proyecto de documentación. Wao terero es su idioma materno pero también habla español y es alfabetizado en ambos idiomas. ; Uboye Gaba was born in the Wao community of Toñampari. His parents are Amo Gaba and Ñai Caiga. His partner is Marci and they have two daughters. He has a high school degree with a specialization in accounting. He is a photagrapher and is also knowledgeable in video recording, documentation and is an expert in transcription and translation as well as in the various linguistic programs necessary for documentation. Wao Terero is his maternal language but he also speaks Spanish and is literate in both languages. ; Tiri nació en Wimenta pero actualmente vive en la comunidad de Nemopare. Está casado con Marga Pauchi y tiene diez hijos: Yam, Inés, Gawe, Loida, Victor, Margot, Luis, Ana. Es un experto en la caza, la pesca, la artesanía y conoce muchas historias, cuentos, mitos y leyendas. Wao Terero es su lengua materna, pero también habla algo de español. ; Tiri was born in Wimenta but currently lives in the community of Nemopare. He is married to Marga Pauchi and has ten children: Yam, Ines, Gawe, Loida, Victor, Margot, Luis, Ana. He is an expert in hunting, fishing, handcrafts and knows many stories, tales, myths and legends. Wao Terero is his maternal language, but he also speaks some Spanish.
