Abstract:
; The dance is one of the hearing culture manifestations and, in this regard, there are few records of its presence in deaf culture. Thereby, the aim of this study was to describe dance representations in the life of deaf adults. This study understands deafness from an anthropological perspective, of the linguistic and cultural difference, seeking to break with the clinical pathological deficiency paradigm. This research analyzes how deaf people who have had contact with this body practice felt or feel about it, as well as the reasons why the practice is rejected or avoided. In this study deaf adults narratives were analyzed as well as their memories and their school and non-school dance experiences. The narratives articulated with a theoretical investigation constituted a study of deaf adults representations about dance. With this research we reflect on the role of the teacher in dance teaching to an audience with a story, a walk and culture that should be known and recognized during the teaching-learning process.
