Abstract: International audience ; As part of a wider project aiming at investigating phonological transfers of Arabic dialects in Standard Arabic, this work focuses on the production of Tunisian speakers when they speak Standard Arabic. We study the production of vowels and interdental fricative of 11 Tunisian speakers in a read corpus of Standard Arabic. These productions are compared with those of 5 Moroccan speakers used as a control group. Several segmental cues are found to distinguish the Standard Arabic productions of the two groups of speakers: they concerned the acoustic vowel formants, the realization of the quantity contrast between long and short vowels, and the realization of interdental fricatives. These cues are interpreted as surface manifestations of the phonological transfer from speakers’ native dialects.
