Государственными языками Республики Калмыкии являются калмыцкий и русский, при этом функционально доминирующим является русский язык, так как коммуникативная мощность калмыцкого языка уступает русскому языку. Автор считает, что принятием лишь законодательных актов не переломить существующей языковой ситуации, поэтому нужны меры по повышению функциональности родного языка, его социального престижа и мотивации к его изучению. ; The article reveals the problems of linguistic situation in the Republic of Kalmykia and analyzes the reasons for the process of losing native language by the Kalmyks. The official languages of the Republic of Kalmykia are the Kalmyk and the Russian, at the same time the Russian language functionally dominates, because the Kalmyk language is inferior to the Russian language in communicative power. The author believes that the adoption of legislative acts in itself can’t reverse the existing linguistic situation, so it is necessary to take measures for raising functionality of the native language, its social prestige and motivation for its study.
