Abstract:
Padma Rgyaldka' says that ancestor worship and the recitation of genealogies still only occur in places where Buddhism did not take over, areas where the priests are still present. Then he talks about wedding customs. The Prinmi will not sell their women when they get married, but give them away ('we don't give away the bones'). Therefore, if their new husbands treat them badly, the family of the woman will have the right to talk to the husband and tear down his house to teach him a lesson. But nowadays, things are changing. ; This priest did not want to be filmed@ but consented to be audio recorded. He was accompanied by an important Prinmi leader who did not want his information to appear@ but consented to be in the recordings. ; Henriette is the primary researcher of this language documentation project. She audio recorded this session. ; Pincuo is documenting his own language in this language documentation project. ; This speaker went along as part of the research team. He helped us connect to contacts he knew in various places and appears in several recordings. He also helped us record and took photos during various sessions. He was part of the conversation.
