Abstract:
Prompted by an unrecorded conversation with his father-in-law about traditional Enxet place names, Anival draws a detailed map of the Makxawaya mission community where he and many others in El Estribo grew up, giving a detailed account of the organization of the community and how it changed over time. ; This continuation of The Enxet Documentation Project begun in 2016. This documentary corpus includes monologues, conversations, singing, and elicitation work along with videos of Enxet Sur people engaged in traditional cultural and economic activities. ; "Bushwalk" refers to a genre of language documentation in which a speaker or group of speakers is recorded on a walk through a wilderness area in order to find and talk about objects and conditions in the natural environment which have some economic or cultural value. ; Anival Lopez is a school teacher, community leader, cultural docent, and apyohóxma (shaman) in the village of Palo Santo.
