Abstract:
George Y. Sheveli о v’s scholarly output is extremely rich and multifaceted. He enriched Ukrainian linguistics by his deep research into the development features and functioning of the Ukrainian language. The paper aims at ascertaining some particular features in the spelling of linguistic terms by Sheveliov in his Ukrainian works. Terminology is a crucial component of each scholarly discipline, which underlies successful professional communication. A thorough study of the terminology allows us to solve the problem of motivation in special terms through their outward make-up. Scientist’s approach to terminology is productive in many respects and offers guidelines also for modern usage. It promotes the role of linguistics in the life of the modern society. George Y. Sheveliov’s achievements, his principles and approaches are important for the current state of development of Ukrainian linguistics particularly.
