Abstract:
Per definitionem spielen statistische Ausreißer in den theoretischen Bestimmungen des Memetischen und der Viralität eine bevorzugte Rolle, werden damit doch Inhalte bezeichnet, die von vielen User_innen gleichzeitig bearbeitet bzw. weitergegeben wurden. In Ergänzung dazu will dieser Beitrag die Aufmerksamkeit auf das umgebende Netzwerk an Reaktionen, Kommentaren, Bewertungen, Links etc. lenken, in deren Kontext sich Virals und Internet-Meme ereignen: ein Gewebe, dessen einzelne Bestandteile und Techniken selbst nicht zwingend schon viral sind oder werden. Am Beispiel des Selfies werden einige Techniken diskutiert, die dazu beitragen, dass überhaupt (und nicht nicht) kommuniziert wird. Diskutiert werden dabei Formen der Serialität (im Spannungsfeld von 'mechanisch' und 'lebendig'), des Ornaments und Arten der Körperbildlichkeit, welche durch ihre Ästhetik zu Reaktion und Antwort einladen und die Schwelle der Partizipation so herabsenken. Der Beitrag argumentiert einerseits medienwissenschaftlich, da er auf Aspekte der medialen Ästhetik abzielt, und stützt sich andererseits auf relevante kommunikationswissenschaftliche Positionen, um Aspekte der Verbreitung im Netz zu diskutieren.
