Operações lógicas, consciência fonológica e conhecimento das letras na educação pré-escolar ; Piaget’s logical operations, phonological awareness and letter knowledge in preschool education
Abstract: A investigação recente tem dado relevância ao papel da consciência fonológica e do conhecimento das letras no pré-escolar. Os estudos sobre o papel do raciocínio lógico (operações lógicas) e aqueles que o integrem são escassos. As operações lógicas (Seriação, Classificação e Inclusão de Classes), a consciência fonológica e o conhecimento das letras são importantes no pré-escolar, porém, não são conhecidos estudos para esse nível educativo que contemplem esses preditores em simultâneo. Com este trabalho, pretende-se averiguar as relações entre as operações lógicas, a consciência fonológica e o conhecimento das letras das crianças que estão a frequentar a educação pré-escolar, tendo em conta o género, a idade e as habilitações dos pais. Participaram neste estudo 116 crianças que frequentavam 3 estabelecimentos de ensino. Os resultados deste trabalho mostram que não existem diferenças significativas consoante o género da criança. Em relação à idade, verificaram-se diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre as crianças mais velhas e as mais novas nas Provas Piagetianas de seriação e classificação. Quanto às habilitações académicas dos pais, verificaram-se diferenças significativas, sendo que as crianças com melhor desempenho eram filhas de pais que possuíam mais escolaridade. Existem correlações positivas significativas entre as operações lógicas, a consciência fonológica e o conhecimento das letras. ; Recent research has given relevance to the role of phonological awareness and the knowledge of letters in preschool. Research on the role of logical thinking (logical operations) and studies with this integration are rare. The logical operations (Seriation, Classification and Classes’ Inclusion), phonological awareness and the knowledge of letters are important in preschool, but there are no studies that address these predictors simultaneously. This study aims to analyze the relationship between logical operations, phonological awareness and letter knowledge of children who are attending pre-school education, taking into account the children’s age and gender and parent’s qualifications. The sample consisted of 116 children attending three schools. The results of this study show that there are no significant differences on the child’s gender. Regarding age, there were statistically significant differences between the older and the younger kids in Piagetian tasks seriation and classification. As for the educational qualifications of parents, there were significant differences, so that children with better performance were the ones of parents with higher education.
