Abstract: International audience ; This inventory of French and German Stereotypical Speech Acts (StSpA) is based ona list constituted for a dictionary. It allows the status as StSpA of the listed tokens tobe verified and presents an analysis of their formal and functional characteristics.Regularities shared by the StSpA of both languages are established despite an apparentformal heterogeneity. The analysis of functional characteristics draws on twoways of sorting StSpA: firstly, by considering possible functions of StSpA andsecondly, by taking into account types of speech acts that StSpA can be associatedwith. Finally, this research does make it possible to identify information and regularities, but it also makes evident the necessity of analyzing StSpA within theirdiscursive context and extralinguistic situation.
