; [eng]􏰉􏰊􏰋 The catalan exiles of the first half of the 19th century formulated variouspolitica and cultural projects􏰔 􏰕􏰔􏰗􏰟to integrate the Catalan identity in the process of construction of the Spanish liberal nation. The Catalans participated fully in the debate on how the nation-state was to be of the nineteenth century and what was the place that had to occupy the regional and municipal identities. From France, the liberals of Catalonia proposed revolutionary political bodies of a regional or territorial nature that were not recognized by all the exiled Spanish liberals, while from England they proposed that the liberal nation recognize the linguistic and historical diversity of Spain through the translation from the Bible to Catalan and to the Basque language, and the publication of a national history of Spain, more provincial and less Castilian-centric. The history, language and representativeness of the territorial bodies were the axes on which a nation-state, less centralist, and more inclined towards federal options was wanted. That first half of the and England several political and social alternatives that called into question the centralizing and uniformizing tendency of liberal regimes.
