Materials for Pan-Romance Field Research ; Materials for Pan-Romance Field Research: Guide - Questionnaire - Worksheets
In: https://hal.archives-ouvertes.fr/hal-03609075 ; 2019 (2019)
Abstract: Other document languages: French, Italian ; Fieldwork projects in linguistics that aim at describing a particular dialect or at verifying the recognition of a series of linguistic phenomena among real speakers are abundant, especially for widely spoken languages such as English or Romance languages. The methods that have been developed for their analysis are as old as they are numerous. Yet the concrete tools with which linguists go into the field are rarely made available to the research community. This document aims at filling this gap. It presents the materials that are being used by a team of field researchers within the ‘Third Way’ Project on ‘Prepositional Adverbials from Latin to Romance' (dir. Martin Hummel), funded by the Austrian Science Fund (2018-2021): a guide, which presents the protocol for the standardised part of the interview, based on the example of French (Quebec), a questionnaire template, based on the example of Italian, as well as a series of worksheets, based on the example of Spanish (Mexico).
