南臺灣大學生對於簡單式時態之使用分析研究 ; A Study on the Use of English Simple Tenses by University Students in Southern Taiwan
Abstract: 本研究目的在探討台灣南部某間大學的學生對簡單式時態(現在簡單式、過去簡單式、未來簡單式)的看法、使用情況、難易度、簡單時態中的錯誤及其錯誤的原因。台灣的大學生在英語寫作中經常犯文法時態的錯誤。英語簡單式時態是台灣學生最早習得且最廣泛使用的時態。雖然台灣的大學生英語學習至少有十年,但還是不能正確且流暢地使用英語簡單時態。 研究對象是南台灣58位應用英語系的大學生。在研究過程中,每一位學生需要填寫一份問卷及寫三篇英語作文。問卷的主題是學生使用簡單式時態的看法、使用情形及簡單式時態所犯錯的原因;三篇作文的題目為:介紹台灣、我的暑假及我未來的展望。研究分析採質性及量性兩種方式,並且使用SPSS統計軟體分析結果。 本研究結果顯示: 一、大部分學生不了解en-US與zw-TW時態的相同及相異處; 二、學生的問卷結果指出學生認為現在簡單式及過去簡單式比較容易,但是現在簡單式及過去簡單式是學生作文中常犯錯的時態;三、學生的母語干擾及中en-US不同的時態表現為英語寫作中主要的犯錯原因;四、過去簡單式對學生而言比較困難,然而未來簡單式對學生而言比較容易;五、學生在現在簡單式中常犯的時態錯誤為:不正確的時態形式、時態誤用及語序排列錯誤;過去簡單式中常犯錯的錯誤為:時態誤用、不正確的時態形式及語序排列錯誤;未來簡單式中的錯誤為:不正確的時態形式、時態誤用及語序排列錯誤。本研究的結果提供給教師及研究者對未來研究方向或是在英語時態教學方面做參考。 ; The aim of the current study was to explore Taiwanese university students’ perceptions of simple tenses, the circumstances under which they use simple tenses, and the level of difficulties across simple tenses they use. The researcher also analyzed the errors made while the students used simple tenses and found out what caused them. The subjects were 58 freshmen who majored in English at one university in southern Taiwan. Each student was required to fill in a questionnaire and wrote down three compositions in this study. Both qualitative and quantitative data were obtained from the questionnaires and the students’ compositions. The results showed as follows: (a) most of the students had difficulties understanding the differences and similarities between English and Chinese; (b) based on the results from students’ questionnaires, students believed simple present tense and past tense are easy to them, but they were unfamiliar with simple present and past tenses in their essays; (c) L1 interference and different language tense system could be the main causes of committing tenses errors; (d) simple past tense was difficult for students while future tense was easy; (e) the top three tense errors students made in simple present were: incorrect form of tense, misuse of tense, and word-order error; in simple past tense errors: misuse of tense, incorrect form of tense, and word-order error; in simple future tense errors: incorrect form of tense, misuse of tense, and word-order error.
