Abstract:
International audience ; À ceux qui apprennent le français comme langue étrangère (FLE), les faits suivants paraissent souvent « étranges ». La première lettre du mot « héros », bien que dénuée de tout bruit de sou e ou d’aspiration, s’appelle un « h aspiré ». Si, en linguistique, le terme « extraordinaire » a pour antonyme « ordinaire » et que l’on sait que le « croissant ordinaire » désigne une certaine viennoiserie, ni le croissant (au) beurre, ni le croissant aux amandes n’est pourtant surnommé « croissant extraordinaire ». De même, par rapport à l’« ENS » (École normale supérieure) : personne ne peut entrer dans un établissement d’enseignement qui porterait les adjectifs antonymiques, une « EAI » ou « École anormale inférieure ». Il est peu probable que, en demandant à quelqu’un « Vous avez l’heure ? », la réponse « Oui, j’ai l’heure » soit celle que l’on attend. Susceptibles de stupéfier les apprenants de FLE, de telles caractéristiques linguistiques du français ont, en réalité, la volonté de se transformer en autant d’invitations pour eux et de les conduire à constater que cette langue étrangère n’est en rien « étrange », mais au contraire « extraordinaire » !
