Abstract: International audience ; This publication is a true contribution to the theorization of the notion of discrimination, a paradoxical concept that was never really approached as such in the field of language sciences. Discrimination is indeed a vast notion mostly understood as a notion of a negative relationship between several elements (Fracchiolla forthcoming). It is all the more complex in that it essentially contains a cognitive dimension which is positive, in the sense that distinguishing is a synonym of discriminating. The human and social sciences have gradually and increasingly taken hold of it – let us cite, for example, Dépret 2016; Marry, Bereni, Jacquemart et al. 2017; Simon, 2009; Fassin and Fassin 2009; Fassin 2002; Simon 1999; Béréni and Chappe, 2011: Eberhead, Laufer et al. 2017; and others whose exhaustive list would be too long. Most of the time, the analyzes proposed relate to specific discriminations such as Morley & Mc Donnell 2017 on "Discrimination in the technical field: the functioning of the gender stereotype", or Aïdan, 2017, on "Psychic identity in gender » ; or Arc & Vellozzo, 2017 on homophobic discrimination. Educational sciences are also increasingly interested in the disparities in treatment between girls and boys in terms of speaking, studies, chosen disciplines, etc. The texts gathered here differ from these thematic approaches and provide tools for a global and systemic analysis of the issues at stake, including language. Together, they offer an in-depth study of the linguistic meaning of the notion of discrimination. An approach through language makes it possible to show how discrimination founds and structures representations and imaginations, and therefore also society. An approach by language as a system also makes it possible to highlight the mechanisms of this discrimination. Such an approach also makes it possible to theorize on a pragmatic level some of these mechanisms, which are those that are found at work in all types of discrimination. ; Cette publication constitue un véritable apport à la théorisation de la notion de discrimination, concept paradoxal et jamais vraiment abordé en tant que tel dans le champ des sciences du langage. La discrimination est en effet une notion vaste et aujourd’hui essentiellement comprise comme une notion de rapport, négatif, entre plusieurs éléments (Fracchiolla à paraître). Elle est d’autant plus complexe qu’elle contient par essence une dimension cognitive qui est, elle, positive, dans le sens où distinguer est un synonyme de discriminer. Les sciences humaines et sociales s’en sont progressivement et de plus saisies – citons par exemple Dépret 2016 ; Marry, Bereni, Jacquemart et al. 2017 ; Simon, 2009 ; Fassin etFassin 2009 ; Fassin 2002 ; Simon 1999 ; Béréni et Chappe, 2011 : Eberhead, Laufer et al. 2017 ; et d’autres encore dont la liste exhaustive serait trop longue. La plupart du temps, les analyses proposées portent sur des discriminations spécifiques comme Morley & Mc Donnell 2017 sur les « Discriminations dans le domaine technique : le fonctionnement du stéréotype de genre », ou Aïdan, 2017, sur « L’identité psychique dans le genre » ; ou encore Arc & Vellozzo, 2017 sur la discrimination homophobe. Les sciences de l’éducation s’intéressent également de plus en plus aux disparités de traitement entre filles et garçons en termes de prises de parole, d’études, de disciplines choisies, etc. Les textes réunis ici se distinguent de ces approches thématiques et donnent des outils pour une analyse globale et systémique des problématiques en jeu, en passant par la langue. Ils proposent, ensemble, une étude approfondie du sens linguistique de lanotion de discrimination. Une approche par la langue permet en effet de montrer d’abord comment la discrimination fonde et structure les représentations et les imaginaires, et donc aussi la société. Une approche par la langue, comme système, permet également de mettre en évidence les mécanismes et rouages de cette discrimination. Une telle approche permet, au-delà, de théoriser sur le plan pragmatique certains de ces mécanismes, qui sont ceux que l’on retrouve à l’œuvre dans tous les types de discriminations.
