First negative constructions seem to take over from early gestures of rejection and avoidance, but tracing the transitions between actions and gestures, and between gestures and signed or vocal expressions in very young children is quite complex. This presentation will focus on multimodal analyses of negation in the productions of five children between the ages of 0;10 and 4;0 interacting with their parents in various linguistic environments (monolingual French, monolingual English, monolingual LSF, bilingual French/LSF). A specific coding system was developed, combining the use of Excel, CLAN and ELAN with the video data and the transcriptions in order to carry out micro and macro analyses of the functions of the different forms of negation according to context in dialogue. We will present the individual multimodal path of each child and illustrate the continuum between contrary actions, negative gestures, signed and vocal negative constructions. ; L'étude de la négation dans des corpus longitudinaux de dialogues adulte-enfant est un lieu privilégié pour mener des analyses multimodales des niveaux prosodique, posturo-mimo-gestuel, syntaxique, sémantique et pragmatique. Les premières constructions négatives semblent éclore à partir des premiers gestes de rejet ou d'évitement, mais il est très difficile de retracer les transitions entre actions et gestes ou entre gestes et signes/productions vocales. Nous présenterons des analyses multimodales de la négation dans les productions de cinq enfants âgés de 10 mois à quatre ans en interaction avec leur parent dans différents environnements linguistiques (monolingue français, monolingue anglais, monolingue LSF, bilingue français/LSF). Un système de codage spécifique a été mis en place par notre équipe, permettant d'utiliser à la fois Excel, CLAN et ELAN avec les données vidéos et les transcriptions afin de mener des macro et des micro-analyses des fonctions des différentes formes de négation selon le contexte et en dialogue. Nous retracerons le chemin individuel emprunté par chaque enfant et illustrerons ainsi le continuum entre actions contraires, gestes de négation, et constructions vocales et signées.
