Abstract:
Ernesto Vázquez y Anastacio Nicolás hablan del chechelo:kamoh, una planta que crece sobre la superficie de los troncos o ramas de los árboles. Se encuentra en el bosque de Tahchikteco en los árboles de okmakowit (Vernonanthura patens (Kunth) H. Rob.), chalawih (Inga spp.) y café. Se da también por Tasalo:lpan al sur de San Miguel Tzinacapan. Hay dos clases. El primero se caracteriza por unos "camotes" que tiene espinas en la punta y que sale de la mata. El segundo también tiene una mata parecida a los camotes pero esta especie no tiene espinas. De cada mata salen unos tallos desde cuya punta brota una flor fragrante de color amarillo. Quizá por su fragrancia se acercan muchos insectos para chupar la miel de la flor. El camote se usa para curar un reflejo de tendón (mokelo:nia) que a veces sale por accidente cuando uno se cae y se enciman las venas o sale un hinchazón. Para usar como remedio se corta el camote, y se rasca con machete o se muele con algo. Al rascar o moler sale una baba resbalosa y pegajosa que se le puede pegar sobre el hinchazón con un pedazo de papel. Puede aplicarse en la cintura, el pie, las manos o bien en cualquier parte del cuerpo aunque provoca mucho comezón donde se aplica.
