Neste sentido, a proposta de desenho metodológico que desenvolvemos neste trabalho compreende 4 etapas: a primeira etapa, etapa exploratória que visa aprofundar e compreender o campo da sexologia. Pretende-se dar conta da emergência do campo da sexologia na sociedade atual através de uma perspetiva diacrónica da sexologia não só em Portugal, mas, também, na Europa. A etapa dois compreende a apresentação do nosso objeto de estudo. Neste sentido e porque não conseguiríamos abarcar todo o domínio da sexologia no presente trabalho, direcionamos a nossa atenção para um segmento deste domínio - a identidade de género. A escolha deste segmento foi opção nossa por acreditarmos que só a partir do conhecimento e estabilização do que é designado por “género” é que poderemos partir para a análise do domínio da sexologia. A etapa 3 visa a constituição de um corpus, constituído por textos de especialidade, que estará na base da análise linguística dos dados encontrados no corpus. Na etapa 4, focamos a nossa atenção para a análise de termos, identificados na etapa anterior, através dos contextos ricos em informação, otimizando a redação de definições em língua natural. Em suma, consideramos que a presente tese, por um lado, poderá contribuir para o desenvolvimento de recursos terminológicos/ lexicográficos no domínio da sexologia e, por outro lado, contribuir para o trabalho de investigação na redação de definições em língua natural dos conceitos relacionados com a sexologia, mais especificamente, através da análise dos contextos ricos em informação. ; Bearing in mind the potential of terminology in representing and organizing knowledge, the current thesis will set the grounds to the elaboration of terminological and/or lexicographical resources in the domain of sexology for the public, being a first step towards a future project as far as sexology is concerned. Thus, the methodological draft proposal that we have developed in this paper is comprised of 4 steps: the first step, the exploratory step by which we want to deepen and better understand the area of sexology. One wants to cope with the growing attention sexology has conquered in society through a diachronic perspective not only in Portugal but also in Europe. Step number two is related to the presentation of our study object. Therefore, and because we could not embrace the full domain of sexology in this paper, we focused on single topic of sexology – gender identity. The choice of this topic was our own decision because we believe that we can only move on to the analysis of the domain of sexology after making clear and stable what one understands by “gender”. Step three aims at the corpus design, composed by texts written by experts in the area of sexology, from which we will start our linguistic analysis. In step four, we focus on the analysis of terms, which were identified in the previous step, through the knowledge-rich contexts, thus optimizing the process of writing definitions in natural language. In a nutshell, we consider that the current thesis may, on one hand, contribute to the development of terminological/ lexicographical resources in the area of sexology, and, on the other hand, contribute to the research work of writing definitions in natural language of concepts related to sexology, more specifically, through the analysis of knowledge-rich contexts.
