Abstract:
Eleuterio Gorostiza y Cristina Vázquez hablan del xa:lxokot (Psidium guajava L.) del cual, según Vázquez, hay dos tipos según el color del fruto. Uno, de frutos rojos por adentro, se llama tsina:kaxa:lxokot (literalmente murciélago guayaba) y el , de frutos color como de crema adentro, se llama ista:kxa:lxokot. Los frutos, que son comestibles, se desarrollan alcanzando el tamaño de un limón. El tronco se ocupa para leña. Se da en cafetales y milpas. Las hojas del xa:lxokot de frutos rojos tienen propiedades medicinales. Se preparan las hojas en té y se toma el agua como para desparasitar al paciente. En caso de que esto no haga efecto se ocupan las hojas de la yerbabuena junto con epazote. También se preparan las hojas en té y las hojas cocidas se ponen como emplasto sobre el estómago del enfermo.
