Abstract:
This item includes a segment of a student interview in a Writing Intensive course in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2014, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'How would you describe the classroom dynamics?' ; Brief excerpt from interview: More of a discussion class than a lecture class; big projects, like the memorandum and the final paper, we presented those . . . they were staggered . . . We all had PowerPoints . . . a lot of majors: Maybe 1/3 of the class were architecture students, a few were Urban Planning students through the interdisciplinary program, and then random, like NREM, or KRS, or Biology . . . When you're in an architecture class full of architecture students, everyone has the same mindset, so having other majors, different points of views.
