EXPERIMENT IN DETAILED GRAVIMETRIC SURVEYING AT SEA.
In: DTIC AND NTIS (1966)
Abstract: A detailed gravimetric survey over a 20 x 30 mile square at sea was conducted. The purpose of the expedition was to process a method for observations and obtain data for a detailed survey in regions with varying anomalousness: with great (of the order of 20 mg1/mile) and small (1 mg1/mile) gradients of the gravitational force. The routes in the square were organized in such a way that five of them were passing at a distance of 7 miles from each other along the meridians, three at 10 mile intervals along the parallels and two routes crossed the square diagonally. Such a planning of routes made it possible to carry out a uniform survey together with control measurements. In all routes the observations were conducted during the forward and reversed motions. The coordinates of the ship's position were determined by the means of radio facilities at the beginning and end of each route. During the travel along the route the coordinates were determined by computations. ; Opyt Provedeniya Detalnoi Gravimetricheskoi Semki na More, trans. of mono.
