Austrian Airlines wirklich 'Austrian'

Abstract:
Der Beitrag aus dem Bereich der Soziolinguistik setzt sich mit den Inhalten des Webauftritts des österreichischen Flugunternehmens Austrian Airlines auseinander und analysiert diese in Hinblick auf das österreichische Deutsch und vier Subsysteme der Sprache: Lexik, Grammatik (unter besonderer Berücksichtig der Morphologie und Wortbildung, Genus der Substantive, Syntax), Orthographie und Pragmatik. Dem Masterprojekt liegt dabei ein sprachdynamischer Ansatz zugrunde, der die Dynamik – Variation und Wandel – als konstitutives Merkmal von Sprache versteht. Als Endergebnis stellt sich heraus, dass RedakteurInnen der Austrian Airlines v. a. auf der Ebene der Morphologie auf dieselben Sprachkonstruktionen zurückgreifen, wodurch die veröffentlichten Texte zumindest in Bezug darauf einheitlich wirken. Legt Austrian Airlines jedoch Wert auf eine bewusste, zielgerichtete und mit ihrem stark vertretenen Österreich-Image einhergehende Unternehmenssprache, sind in anderen systemlinguistischen Bereichen weiterführende Schritte zu unternehmen und Entscheidungen zu treffen. ; This thesis is settled within the field of sociolinguistics showing an analysis of the content of the Austrian Airlines website, an Austrian airline company. It focalizes on Austrian German and four subsystems of language: lexis, grammar (with particular focus on the morphology, word formation, grammatical gender, and syntax), orthography, and pragmatics. The master project is based on a language dynamic approach, which understands dynamics – variation and change – as a constitutive feature of language. The results show how Austrian Airlines editors try to utilize mainly the same language constructions, especially within the morphologic area, to convey cohesiveness amongst all published texts. If Austrian Airlines really wants to implement a corporate language that is conscious, purposeful, and strongly bound to the Austria image the company represents, further steps and decisions have to be taken in other areas of linguistic system.
