September 2011, Institute for African Studies, University of Cologne ; South-Bauchi West Chadic (SBW) languages, spoken in northern Nigeria, do not possess grammatical gender or nominal classes and as a rule, few nouns form a plural (morpho-lexical plural). The plural inside the NP is expressed through the noun modifiers. There is no agreement between the verb and its arguments. However, plurality appears in the verb phrase in two places: (i) the formation of the imperatives (ii) a verbal derivation forming what has come to be called, since Newman 1990, 'pluractionals'. The South sub-group (Zeem, Dass, Saya) differs in that it has developed a set of noun plurals through the use of various morphological devices, but most commonly, a -(Vn)sə suffix. This paper presents first the situation of noun plurals in the northern sub-group (Geji, Polci) which is then contrasted with the situation in the southern sub-group (Zeem, Dass, Saya). Finally verbal plurals, and the problem of the variation of the 2nd person in SBW languages are given a detailed study. The conclusion stresses the originality of southern SBW languages (Saya cluster) and raises the possibility that Pelu and Diir may have developed a subject agreement in the plural. ; Les langues Sud-Bauchi occidentales (SBW) parlées dans le nord du Nigéria, ne possèdent ni genre grammatical ni classes nominales, et peu de noms ont une forme plurielle (pluriel morpho-lexical). A l'intérieur du syntagme nominal le pluriel est exprimé par les déterminants nominaux. Il n'y a pas d'accord entre le verbe et ses arguments. Cependant, la pluralité apparaît dans le syntagme nominal à deux endroits : (i) la formation des impératifs ; (ii) une dérivation verbale appelée 'pluractionnels' depuis Newman 1990. Le sous-groupe méridional (Zeem, Dass, Saya) se distingue par le développement d'une classe de noms pluriels via différents procédés morphologiques, mais en majorité par le suffixe -(Vn)sə. L'article envisage d'abord la situation des noms pluriels dans le sous-groupe septentrional (Zeem, Dass, Saya). Finalement, les pluriels verbaux ainsi que la variation de la 2ème personne dans les langues SBW sont étudiées en détail. La conclusion souligne l'originalité du sous-groupe septentrional (groupe Saya), et envisage la possibilité que le pelu et le diir puissent avoir créé un accord subjectal au pluriel.
