The Origins Of Language ...
Fernández, Alejandro. - : SocArXiv, 2017

A few well-defined evolutionary steps (or language eras) are proposed: monosyllabic words with a single consonant, monosyllabic words with two consonants, monosyllabic words with vowelsand finally polysyllabic words. The available evidence for this evolutionary path is reviewed from several perspectives, including comparative linguistics, paleoanthropology and genetics. A number of alternative evolutionary paths in the literature are also discussed. Finally, two artificial languages are proposed to illustrate the expressive power of the earliest language eras: Singlecon and Doublecon. ...
