Abstract: Esta es una revisión bibliográfica que, siguiendo una metodología cualitativa, ha dado respuesta a sus objetivos a través del estudio de unas categorías relacionadas con las lenguas. El trabajo es un estudio sobre la situación lingüística, los distintos modelos educativos y estrategias para fomentar el aprendizaje de lenguas. Se han seleccionado Comunidades y Ciudades Autónomas en las que la situación lingüística es específica, entre ellas: Galicia, País Vasco, Cataluña y Melilla. Los resultados muestran que, mientras que en Galicia se está perdiendo la lengua gallega, en el País Vasco y en Cataluña hay un mayor desarrollo del plurilingüismo, siendo Cataluña la Comunidad que más fomenta el aprendizaje de su lengua cooficial. En cuanto a Melilla, la lengua vehicular es el castellano y aunque hay una gran parte de estudiantes que tengan el tamazight como lengua materna, no afecta a su rendimiento académico ni es motivo del alto porcentaje de fracaso escolar y abandono escolar temprano que hay en la ciudad. ; This is a bibliographic review that has answered its objectives throughout the study of categories related to languages by following a qualitative methodology. This work is a study about the linguistic situation, the different educational models and strategies for promoting languages learning. A selection of Autonomous Communities and Cities with specific linguistic situations has been made: Galicia, Basque Country, Catalonia and Melilla. The results show that, while there is a loss of the Galician language in Galicia, that in the Basque Country and in Catalonia there is a bigger development in multilingualism, being Catalonia the Community which promotes its official language the most. The vehicular language in Melilla is Spanish and even if there are a great number of students whose mother tongue is Tamazight, it does not affect their academic performance nor it’s the reason for the high rates of academic failure or the early school leaving in the city.
