Abstract: The research carried out under the terminated grant has dealt with models investigating fundamental aspects of learning and perception. Such models provide essential bases for further understanding of machine intelligence in problem solving systems, pattern recognition and robotics. In addition, the models offer a valid means of evaluating human learning and perception such as is certainly required in ongoing development of computer aided instruction, where models of both the learner and the teacher are required. Both of the research projects have provided basic information leading to insights for extensions and adaptation to a spectrum of both fundamental and application-oriented work. Forthcoming publications will describe the work in detail. (Author)
