Abstract: Prior research on the ITL in speech (sequences of syllables) showed that in Spanish, durational cues are not used to the same extent as in English in order to parse the signal into words, while intensity is used in similar ways (Crowhurst & Olivares 2016). This experiment tries to replicate this difference between the languages, and furthermore test how the languages differ with respect to the parsing of prominence. ...
