Abstract:
Can digital technologies really improve English language teaching, or are we just caught up in a contemporary fad, much like language and computer labs? This presentation initially considers whether digital technologies can actually enhance language pedagogies and posits whether there is any substitute for quality face to face teaching. The session will proceed by examining a number of digital software packages and applications designed to enhance learning and teaching in a TESOL classroom, with the objective of discerning whether these truly have the potential for positive impact.
