Abstract:
Treball d'investigació/Fi de màster. Tutora: Victòria Alsina Keith ; Aquest treball es compon de dues traduccions del català a l’anglès del primer capítol de la novel·la juvenil L’enigma Perucho, escrita per Jordi Cervera Nogués. La primera traducció és en el mateix mode de novel·la, escrita en un mateix nivell lingüístic. La segona traducció és intersemiòtica, feta a un format multimodal per explicar la mateixa història en còmic, mitjançant un llenguatge que combina escriptura amb dibuixos. Les dues traduccions van adreçades a lectores de la mateixa edat que el text inicial. Es busca reproduir en el possible els recursos estilístics, però experimentant amb els conceptes de diegesi i narrativa, i tenint en compte que la traducció no necessàriament ha de ser literal, no es tracta de dir el mateix, sinó més aviat dir gairebé el mateix. Les tècniques de traducció tenen en compte les diferències culturals i les modalitats textuals. ; This dissertation comprises two translations of the same text from Catalan into English. The source text is the opening chapter from the teenage novel L’enigma Perucho, written by Jordi Cervera. The first translation is in the same mode of a novel, written in the same linguistic pitch. The second translation is intersemiotic, done in a multimodal format to explain the same story in comic, by means of a language combining script and pictures. Both translations target readers in the same age group as does the initial text. It is intended that they reproduce as much as possible the same stylistic features, but experimenting with the concepts of diegesis and narrative and bearing in mind that translation is not necessarily a literal reproduction, but a way of saying almost the same thing. The translation techniques take into account differences between the cultures and the textual modes.
