Abstract:
Society's transition from physical- to information-centric impacts thinking and methodology, structures and processes, modeling and analysis. Human-created problems involving information behave differently than physical ones. Information science (IS) involves collecting, fusing, exploiting information to produce intelligence and situation awareness that enables command and control. IS (network) models how individuals interact, exchange ideas, share situational information, provide support, and conduct business. In IS world, the social sciences (especially social network analysis) are a growing part of the conversation. ; Presented at the 19th International Command & Control Research & Technology Symposium (ICCRTS) held 16-19 June, 2014 in Alexandria, VA.
