Abstract: The present study aims to investigate LGBT* coming out models through a corpus linguistic lens. More specifically, we explore the keyness and commonalities of the integral terms associated with thoroughly researched models. To inform the present study, a review of relevant literature was conducted. In this review, six critical topics emerged. These topics were: (a) key terms, (b) definition of the Cass identity model, (c) definition of the D’Augelli’s LGB lifespan development model, (d) how keyness and collocation reveal the nature of discourse, (e) LGBTQ+ research gaps on the coming out process and how keyness and collocation could inform LGBTQ+ research. After an examination of research related to the aforementioned issues, the research question that guided this study will be detailed. ...
