Abstract: This study is a reflexive review of theories about the teaching of English to children in Elementary School, a suggestion to teach English through the Fairy Tales and Fables, associated with the study of Transversal Themes suggested by the plot in the selected stories. Based on the Communicative Approach to language were conducted a few classes with students of the 4th year of Elementary School in a private school of Bauru city. A bibliographic study was conducted in Applied Linguistics, Philosophy of Education, Psychoanalysis, Approaches to teaching Foreign Language and Theories related to foreign language acquisition ; A presente pesquisa consiste em uma reflexão teórica sobre o ensino da Língua Inglesa para crianças do Ensino Fundamental I, apresentando uma sugestão de ensino do Inglês a partir dos Contos de Fadas e das Fábulas, aliado ao estudo dos Temas Transversais sugeridos pelo enredo das histórias selecionadas. Adotando uma Abordagem Comunicativa para o ensino de línguas foram desenvolvidas algumas aulas com alunos do 4º ano do Ensino Fundamental, em uma escola da rede privada de Bauru. Para tanto foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico dentro da Linguística Aplicada, da Filosofia da Educação, da Psicanálise, das Abordagens de ensino de Língua Estrangeira e das Teorias relacionadas à aquisição da língua estrangeira
