Abstract: Am Beispiel der phonologischen Bewusstheit und ihrer Förderung werden Schwächen von Versuchen der Prognose von Lese-/ Rechtschreibschwierigkeiten und ihrer Prävention bzw. Überwindung durch entsprechende Förderprogramme diskutiert. Die große Streuung von Entwicklungen trotz "gleicher" Voraussetzungen und ihre Biografie- und Kontextabhängigkeit machen deutlich, dass statistische Kennwerte in einzelnen Leistungsdimensionen nicht ausreichen, um die Schritte für die weitere Lernentwicklung einzelner Kinder durch einzelne Tests, z. B. zur phonologischen Bewusstheit, verlässlich zu bestimmen.
