Abstract:
O presente trabalho fala sobre a tradução e as dificuldades encontradas ao traduzir o relatório Shell Energy Transition Report. É composto por três capítulos. O primeiro capítulo faz um enquadramento teórico, onde se abordam as teorias relativas aos texto técnicos e à suas especificidades. Fala também dos géneros textuais (em particular os géneros textuais profissionais e promocionais), da tradução e dos processos de tradução, da tradução de metáforas, bem como da tradução técnica e científica. O segundo capítulo faz uma breve caracterização do relatório traduzido (Shell Energy Transition Report), que inclui uma contextualização do mesmo: (atividades estratégias e objetivos da empresa) e uma análise do género do texto em causa (sendo esse género misto), tendo em conta que o principal objetivo do relatório é vender a imagem da empresa. O terceiro capítulo faz um levantamento dos problemas de tradução mais relevantes encontrados durante a tradução. 1) Faz um levantamento de questões lexicais: o fenómeno do empréstimo e as traduções da palavra key nos seus empregos metafóricos. 2) Fala das expressões que descrevem o futuro e as suas incertezas, fazendo previsões e elaborando cenários fictícios. 3) Levanta a questão da tradução da forma em –ing para português, sendo que esta pode corresponder a várias categorias gramaticais (adjetivo, parte de verbo, advérbio ou nome). 4) Fala sobre como traduzir o present perfect., usando o “presente simples”, no “pretérito perfeito simples” ou o “pretérito perfeito composto”. 5) Aborda a dificuldade em traduzir corretamente um sintagma nominal complexo, que em inglês compacta uma grande quantidade de informações 6) Fala-se da tradução dos verbos intransitivo difíceis de traduzir por um verbo intransitivo e também da dificuldade em traduzir verbos transitivos que seriam intransitivos em português.7) Analisa-se a diferença de uso do artigo definido em nomes próprios entre o inglês e o português. ; This study concerns translation and the difficulties encountered when translating the Shell Energy Transition Report. It is formed of three chapters. The first chapter presents a theoretical framework, addressing the theories on technical texts and their specificities. It also deals with types of texts (particularly professional and promotional text types), translation and translation processes, translating metaphors as well as technical and scientific translation. The second chapter characterizes briefly the report translated (Shell Energy Transition Report), including its contextualization: (the firm’s activities, strategies and objectives) and an analysis of the type of text in question (this being a mixed type), considering that the main aim of the report is to sell the company image. The third chapter lists the most relevant translation problems encountered during the translation. 1) Listing lexical issues: the phenomenon of borrowing, and translations of the word key in its metaphorical uses. 2) Presenting expressions that describe the future and its uncertainties, forecasting and elaborating fictitious scenarios. 3) Raising the question of translating the –ing form to Portuguese, as this can correspond to various grammatical categories (adjective, part of the verb, adverb or noun). 4) About how to translate the “present perfect”, using the “present simple”, the “simple preterite” or the “compound preterite”. 5) The difficulty of translating correctly a complex noun phrase, which in English contains a large amount of information.6) Translation of intransitive verbs that are difficult to translate by an intransitive verb and also the difficulty of translating transitive verbs that would be intransitive in Portuguese. 7) Analysis of the difference in the use of the definite article in proper names between English and Portuguese.
