ON-LINE TYPEWRITER ACCESS TO CLASSIFICATION TABLES ON DRUM STORAGE
In: DTIC AND NTIS (1967)
Abstract: A system is described for experimenting with classification tables for information storage and retrieval systems. A desideratum are tables that display, for indexing and search purposes, such relationships as synonymy, genericity-specificity, whole-part, process-product, and noun modifiers. The system is designed to enable (1) entering and deleting of both terms and relationships in small segments since all interconnections among terms are not expected to be known at one time; (2) searching by particular relationships to a particular term as well as by all relationships to that term; (3) orderly and legible formatting of the 'threading' results; and (4) performance at reasonable speeds. Details of the program implementation on the RPC-4000 are given. (Author)
