	Abstract: Lange Zeit war die Untersuchung von Beziehungen zwischen "Rassen" von spezifischen Paradigmen – insbesondere Assimilation vs. Multikulturalismus – dominiert, die auf Unterschiedlichkeit abhoben (als Problem bzw. als besondere Potenz). In neuerer Zeit hat die Vorstellung der "Mischung" von und des Austausches zwischen "Rassen" und Kulturen, haben Konzepte wie "creolization" oder "hybridization" an Bedeutung gewonnen. Ausgangspunkt dieses Artikels ist die Beobachtung, dass die Vorstellung "rassischer" oder kultureller "Mischung", von Hybridität bzw. "mestiçagem", eine zentrale ideologische Bastion der letzten Dekade des portugiesischen Kolonialismus war. Wenn Hybridität also kein neuer Begriff und Diskurs im zeitgenössischen Portugal ist, worum geht es bei diesem Konzept heute? Und was können wir aus dem portugiesischen Hybriditätsdiskurs über die portugiesische Situation hinaus lernen? Der Beitrag geht diesen Fragen mittels einer Kombination von visuellen und linguistischen Analysen des Lifestyle-Magazins Afro nach als einem Ort, an dem zeitgenössische Diskurse über "Rassen" ineinandergreifen. ; For many years the study of "race" relations was dominated by paradigms—of assimilationism and multiculturalism—which highlighted difference and division (as a problem, or a virtue). In more recent years the idea of racial and cultural mixing—creolization or hybridization—has become an important concept in ethnic and racial studies. The starting point of this article is the observation that the idea of racial and cultural mixture—hybridity or mestiçagem—was a key ideological feature of Portuguese colonialism in its last decades. If hybridity is not therefore a new discourse in Portugal, what is the place for it today and what kind of hybridity is being referred to? What might the Portuguese case tell us about discourses of hybridity more generally? The article explores these questions through a combined visual and linguistic analysis of the lifestyle magazine Afro as a site where contemporary discourses about "race" intertwine. ; Por muchos años el estudio de las relaciones de "raza" fue dominado por paradigmas – de asimilacionismo y multiculturalismo – que destacaron la diferencia y la división (como un problema, o una virtud). En años más recientes la idea de la mezcla racial y cultural – creolización o hibridación – se ha convertido en un importante concepto en los estudios étnicos y raciales. El punto de partida de este artículo es la observación de que la idea de la mezcla racial y cultural –hibridación o mestizaje – era una característica ideológica clave del colonialismo portugués en sus últimas décadas. Si la hibridación no es, por lo tanto, un nuevo discurso en Portugal, ¿cuál es el lugar para ella hoy en día y a qué clase de hibridación se está refiriendo? ¿Qué pudo decirnos, de manera más general, el caso portugués sobre los discursos de hibridación? El artículo explora estas preguntas a través de un análisis combinado, visual y lingüístico, de la revista de estilo de vida Afro como un sitio en donde se entrelazan los discursos contemporáneos sobre la "raza".
