	Abstract: Το φαινόμενο της διγλωσσίας έχει τα τελευταία χρόνια προσελκύσει αυξημένο ερευνητικό ενδιαφέρον. Όντας ένα πολύπλοκο και πολυδιάστατο φαινόμενο, ερευνητές με διαφορετικό επιστημολογικό υπόβαθρο έχουν προσεγγίσει και μελετήσει διάφορες πτυχές της διγλωσσίας. Αξιοσημείωτο είναι το γεγονός ότι μια πληθώρα ερευνών δίνει έμφαση στις δυναμικές και στις ιδεολογίες που δομούν το κοινωνικό πλαίσιο στο οποίο αναπτύσσεται και δραστηριοποιείται το δίγλωσσο παιδί. Υπό αυτή τη λογική, η υπάρχουσα βιβλιογραφία αναγνωρίζει τον καθοριστικό ρόλο που επιτελούν οι γονείς δίγλωσσων παιδιών για την ενίσχυση της διγλωσσίας και υπογραμμίζει την ανάγκη για περαιτέρω διερεύνηση του εν λόγω ρόλου. Αυτό είναι και το σημείο απαρχής της παρούσης εργασίας, η οποία ρίχνει φως σε διάφορες διαστάσεις του ρόλου των γονέων στη διαδικασία ενίσχυσης της διγλωσσίας. Συγκεκριμένα, η παρούσα εργασία εμβαθύνει στις αντιλήψεις των γονέων σχετικά με τη διγλωσσία, όπως επίσης και στις πρακτικές που υιοθετούνται με σκοπό την ενίσχυση της διγλωσσίας του ... : The phenomenon of bilingualism has gained increased scholarly attention. As it is a multifaceted and multidimensional phenomenon, scholars with distinct epistemological underpinnings have approached and studied various facets of bilingualism. It is note worthy that a plethora of studies places emphasis on the dynamics and ideologies that shape and form the social environment in which the bilingual child is embedded. Following this notion, the extant literature devoted to bilingualism acknowledges the critical role that parents play in the empowerment of bilingualism and underlines the need for further research on this very role. This constitutes the starting point of this thesis, which sheds light on several dimensions of the role that parents play in the process of empowering bilingualism. Particularly, the present study delves into the perceptions of the parents with respect to bilingualism as well as into the practices that are adopted in order for bilingualism to be strengthened.
