Abstract:
Cet article est basé sur une étude ethnographique de longue durée (2001-2018) et adopte une perspective sociolinguistique sur l’acquisition langagière dans un contexte de migration. L’objectif est d’examiner les expressions métaphoriques qu’utilisent lesnouveaux locuteurs pour décrire le processus d’apprentissage du suédois. L’analyse vise à mieux comprendre le phénomène de mudes linguistiques, c’est-à-dire les moments décisifs de la vie d’un individu qui provoquent un changement de langue. En examinant une trajectoire linguistique, nous montrons qu’une langue s’approprie dans la durée, à travers un long processus relationnel et émotionnel. Nous observons également que lesmudes se réalisent en plusieurs temps et qu’elles peuvent avoir des qualités distinctes. Il nous paraît donc utile d’élargir la notion de mudes et de parler de mudes fonctionnellespour désigner le côté pratique de la langue comme moyen de communication dans des domaines langagiers différents, et de mudes existentielles par rapport à la conception et à l’acceptation de soi-même en tant que nouveau locuteur. ; This article is based on a long-term ethnographic study (2001–2018) and adopts a sociolinguistic perspective to consider language acquisition in a context of migration. It aims to examine the metaphorical expressions that new speakers of Swedish use to describe the process of learning the language. The analysis aims to improve understanding of the phenomenon of linguistic mudes, that is, the decisive moments in individuals’ lives that lead them to change their language of habitual use. By examining a linguistic trajectory, I show that a language is appropriated over time, by means of a long relational and emotional process. I also observe that mudes take place over several stages and that they can have different qualities. It therefore seems useful to broaden the concept of mudes and to use the term “functional mudes” to refer to the practical aspect of language as a means of communication in different language domains, and “existential mudes” in relation to the perception and acceptance of oneself as a new speaker. ; `resume lang="es"bEste artículo se basa en un estudio etnográfico de larga duración (2001-2018) y adopta una perspectiva sociolingüística de la adquisición de la lengua en el contexto de la migración. El objetivo es examinar las expresiones metafóricas que utilizan los nuevos hablantes para describir los procesos de aprendizaje del idioma sueco. El análisis intenta comprender mejor el fenómeno de las mudas lingüísticas, es decir, los momentos decisivos de la vida de un individuo que provocan un cambio de lenguaje. Al examinar una trayectoria lingüística, mostramos que, una lengua se domina con el tiempo, a través de un largo proceso relacional y emocional. De la misma manera, observamos que lasmudas se realizan en varios periodos de tiempo y pueden tener cualidades distintas. Así pues, consideramos que es útil ampliar la noción de muda y hablar de mudas funcionalespara designar la dimensión práctica de la lengua como medio de comunicación en campos lingüísticos diferentes, y de mudas existenciales con respecto a la concepción y a la aceptación de sí mismo como nuevo hablante.
