Abstract:
The problem of sentence parts is one of the problematic issues in syntactic theory. An insufficient traditional approach is seen in some cases of imbalance between a form and contents of sentence parts, when there are no definite ways of expressing, fixed to them, etc. Despite obvious drawbacks, this classification is still in demand not only for practical use, but also for a theoretical description of a simple sentence. The purpose of the paper is to find out classification features of adverbial modifier as a secondary part of a sentence in a wide scope of traditional theory.Classification characteristics, which are based on the correlation of adverbial modifiers with their formal-syntactic, semantic-syntactic and communicative matches, have been determined. Structural-semantic peculiarities of adverbial modifier are characterized in a traditional way. Described are their means of expression: adverbs of any semantic category, adverbs, adverbial rotations, unprincipled forms of the noun or its equivalents (genitive or instrumental cases), prepositional-case forms of the noun or its equivalents, infinitives, comparative constructions, idioms, syntactically indeterminate phrases. It is focused on the semantic indicators of adverbial modifiers: they characterize the action, process, state, a sign regarding their quality, intensity, or they indicate the conditions under which an event or phenomenon occurs. In accordance with the semantic criterion described nine varieties of adverbial modifiers: the mode of action, measures and degree, place, time, cause, purpose, condition, concession, consequence.The conclusion has been made that a traditional description of secondary sentence parts is based on the morphological nature of a secondary part of a sentence and the component it depends on syntactically, and on the type of syntactic link and meaningful relations between them. Traditionally, structural-semantic peculiarities of adverbial modifier were analyzed, their types were characterized, their classification characteristics were determined. The challenge of our further scientific search is in studying the correlation of formal-syntactic and semantic-syntactic matches of an adverbial modifier in the structure of a sentence. ; У статті визначено класифікаційні характеристики обставин, що охоплюють кореляції з їхніми формально-синтаксичними, семантико-синтаксичними та комунікативними відповідниками. У традиційному річищі проаналізовано структурно-семантичні особливості обставин. Описано їхні засоби вираження: прислівники будь-якого семантичного розряду, дієприслівники, дієприслівникові звороти, безприйменникові форми іменника чи його еквівалентів (родового або орудного відмінків), прийменниково-відмінкові словоформи іменника чи його еквівалентів, інфінітиви, порівняльні звороти, фразеологізми, синтаксично нерозкладні словосполучення. Акцентовано на значеннєвих показниках обставин: характеризують дію, процес, стан, ознаку щодо їхньої якості, інтенсивності або вказують на умови, за яких відбувається подія чи явище. Відповідно до семантичного критерію описано дев’ять різновидів обставин: способу дії, міри і ступеня, місця, часу, причини, мети, умови, допустовості, наслідку.
