Abstract:
; Björn Höcke is considered to be the head of the radical right-wing movement within the Alternative für Deutschland and as a hardliner of his party he is in close contact with the New Right. In Germany’s political media public, he has been striking with provocative statements that demand an adequate method of analysis which does not only address the obvious content. It also needs to uncover political narratives as well as patterns of thought and argumentation. The paper therefore promotes an interdisciplinary and innovative approach and develops a discourse-analytical perspective on Björn Höcke's strategic framing. The study deals with his autobiographical work 'Nie zweimal in denselben Fluss', published in 2018, and some selected political speeches. It is closely oriented towards the present and political perspectives of the contemporary New Right. This interdisciplinary approach based on frame and discourse analysis can substantially decrypt the linguistic patterns in Höcke’s xenophobic, far-right and social Darwinist perspectives and mark their emergence in the linguistic, political and historical context, thus making visible a multidimensional discursive field of contemporary right-wing extremism.
