Curso académico 2019-2020 ; El inglés es en la actualidad una lengua de unión y acercamiento para personas que no comparten sus respectivas lenguas maternas y es por ello que el fenómeno del Inglés como lengua Franca es de tanta relevancia en nuestros tiempos. El Ingles ya no puede considerarse como un bien nacional en países anglosajones ya que debido a la globalización y expansión de este idioma, su función y utilidad se ha visto magnificada, hasta tal punto que ha pasado a ser un bien de carácter internacional. Desde una perspectiva tradicional, el uso de este idioma ha sido clasificado por el lingüista Braj Kachru en tres círculos concéntricos denominados Círculo Interno, Círculo Externo y por último Círculo en Expansión. Esta clasificación no solo mide el uso del inglés sino también patrones de adquisición del idioma, el tipo de expansión y por último, su apropiación funcional. Sin embargo, la naturaleza del fenómeno del inglés como Lengua Franca no responde a clasificaciones estrictas y necesita una flexibilización de sus estándares. Es por ello que la lingüista Penny Ur sugiere la aparición de un nuevo fenómeno al que denomina El hablante competente en contraposición a la falacia del modelo del profesor nativo para la enseñanza del inglés. Ur argumenta que un orador con plenas capacidades en gramática, vocabulario y que además tenga un cierto nivel de empatía cultural con respecto a sus alumnos, puede ser una mejor guía para ellos ya que no solo les puede transmitir sus conocimientos en el idioma pero al mismo tiempo lo puede hacer respetando la identidad cultural de sus alumnos. Finalmente es importante mencionar la globalización de este fenómeno y su análisis pertinente en el continente asiático, más concretamente en Corea del Sur ya que este país refleja el fenómeno del Ingles como Lengua Franca en toda su extensión. ENGLISH: English is currently a bridge language for people who do not share their respective mother tongues and that is the reason why the phenomenon of English as a lingua franca is of such relevance in our times. English can no longer be considered as a national good in Anglo-Saxon countries as, due to the globalization and expansion of this language, its function and usefulness have been magnified, to such an extent that it has become an international good. From a traditional perspective, the use of this language has been classified by the linguist Braj Kachru into three concentric circles called the Inner Circle, the External Circle and finally the Expanding Circle. This classification not only measures the use of English but also patterns of language acquisition, the type of spread and, finally, its functional appropriation. However, the nature of the phenomenon of English as a Lingua Franca is not evenly perceived in the academic field. In opposition to Kachru´s model, linguist Penny Ur suggests the appearance of a new phenomenon called The Fully Competent Speaker as opposed to the fallacy of the native teacher model for English language teaching. Ur argues that a speaker with full abilities in grammar, vocabulary and a certain level of cultural empathy towards his students, is a better guide since he can not only transmit his knowledge in the language but at the same time he can do such a thing while respecting the cultural identity and background of his pupils. Finally, it is important to mention the globalization of this phenomenon and its analysis in the Asian continent, in South Korea as a case study, since this country represents the phenomenon of English as a Lingua Franca in its full and more actual sense.
