Analysis of conversational features related to transactional success of persons with aphasia uing transcription-less coding method
Abstract: Transactional success was determined for 72 aphasic conversations and behaviors within these conversations were quantified using a transcription-less coding method. Correlation analysis revealed the relationship between these behaviors and transactional success (e.g. the ability of conversation partners to work together to convey correct information). Results are discussed in terms of possible explanations for the observed relationships, the benefit of using transcription-less coding in the analysis of conversation, and future research directions suggested by the results of this investigation.
