Geografía lingüística de los apellidos españoles (algunos aspectos)

Abstract:
Este artículo analiza, en primer lugar, la frecuencia general de los apellidos, así como su frecuencia por regiones. Del estudio se desprende que algunos apellidos son claramente occidentales, como Álvarez, González, Fernández, etc. También se puede concluir que los patronímicos que terminan en -EZ son comunes en todos los idiomas y dialectos de España, lo que podría refutar la hipótesis de su origen prerromano. En segundo lugar, se estudian algunos apellidos especiales, como el de García, así como la alternancia de los apellidos que terminan en -Z con los apellidos de nombres propios sin la -Z, como Benito/Benítez, Domingo/Domínguez, Femando/Femández, etc. El análisis continua con los apellidos derivados del santoral y de los que derivan de topónimos. En la última sección se examinan los apellidos de adjetivos que hacen referencia a aspectos físicos o morales de las personas. ; This paper analyses, in the first place, the general frequency of surnames, as well as their frequency by regions. From the study it can be concluded that sorne are clearly from the west, such as Álvarez, González, Fernández, etc. One can also reach the conclusion that the patronymic words ending in -EZ are common in all languages and dialects of Spain, which could disprove the hypothesis that their origin was pre-Roman.
