Linguistique anglaise et oralité : vers une approche intégrée, Presses Sorbonne Nouvelle, pp.110-125, 2019 (2019) Abstract: National audience ; This chapter presents a corpus study of non-canonical English structures used for information packaging – extrapositions, right dislocations, it-clefts, wh-clefts, reversed wh-clefts and so-called « emphatic do ». The relations between the information structure and the prosodic patterns (tonality, tonicity and tones) are analysed and the results show that the canonical (expected) prosody of these structures is not the most frequent one in (semi-)spontaneous speech. It is argued that in discourse the pragmatic functions of the non-canonical structures under study derive from the complex interactions between syntax and prosody, leading to a reinterpretation of the syntactic structures in oral discourse and to a discursive approach of the prosodic analysis. ; Ce chapitre présente l’étude de structures syntaxiques de focalisation –extrapositions, dislocations à droite, clivées en it, pseudo-clivées, pseudo-clivées renversées et do appelé emphatique- dans un corpus d’anglais oral (semi-)spontané. Les relations entre la structure informationnelle et les éléments prosodiques (découpage en unités intonatives, place du noyau et mouvement mélodique) sont analysées. Les résultats montrent que la prosodie canonique (attendue) pour ces structures est loin d’être la plus courante en discours (semi-)spontané. Nous montrons comment l’association d’une prosodie particulière et d’une structure syntaxique particulière permet de proposer une réinterprétation de ces structures syntaxiques en discours et de se tourner vers une approche discursive de la prosodie.
