Le temps est venu de mieux décrire et comprendre à la variation en le français québécois (FQ). Notre projet décrira le FQ oral soutenu (Phase 1) et modélisera la variation sociale et situationnelle pour en comprendre les mécanismes (Phase 2). Notre hypothèse est que la variation entre français familier et soutenu relève d'un continuum plutôt que d'une alternance entre deux grammaires mentales où les formes soutenues et familières sont incompatibles. Pour atteindre ces objectifs, nous analysons le parler de Québécois en entrevue télévisée. Nos résultats seront enfin partagés avec des éducateurs afin d'entamer une conscientisation collective (Phase 3). // The ideology of 'good French', this unique standard, perpetuates linguistic discrimination. The time has come to better describe and understand the variation in French Quebec (FQ). Our project will describe the sustained oral FQ (Phase 1) and model social and situational variation to understand its mechanisms (Phase 2). Our hypothesis is that the variation between familiar and sustained French is part of a continuum rather than an alternation between two mental grammars where sustained and familiar forms are incompatible. To achieve these objectives, we analyze the speech of Quebecers in a television interview. Our results will finally be shared with educators in order to initiate collective awareness (Phase 3).
