Instructor interview for Place-Based WAC/WID writing instruction in Indo-Pacific Languages, clip 1 of 16
Abstract: This item includes a segment of an instructor interview in a Writing Intensive course in Indo-Pacific Languages at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The interview was conducted in 2013, and in this clip the interviewee is responding to the question 'What elements of your syllabus and classroom plans reflect a place-based approach?' ; Brief excerpt from interview: When I hear the word 'place' with reference to teaching, I think of 'situational,' 'contextual,' to think of place that encompasses the whole Pacific. The whole ocean becomes that context, invoking a Pacific voice.
