ESTUDIO ANALÍTICO DE LAS PALABRAS DE ORIGEN ÁRABE

Abstract:
La existencia de los árabes en Al-Ándalus durante ocho siglos no dejó solamente un caudal científico, cultural, religioso, arquitectónico sino -también- lingüístico, aspecto que nos concierne en el presente trabajo donde se pretende, en primer lugar, investigar la veracidad o precisión de las atribuciones y sus definiciones que les da Antonio Giol y Soldevilla en su libro «Palabras españolas de origen árabe» a los arabismos. No se analizarán todos los arabismos citados en el libro sino que se elegirá un grupo de ellos para sujetarlo a análisis de diferentes niveles lingüísticos: fonética, ortográfica, semántica y léxico. En segundo lugar, se observará la influencia de la lengua árabe en la lengua española en sus diferentes dominios. Se valdrá de diversos diccionarios de español y de árabe a fin de comprobar el significado de las palabras comparándolas con los aportados en el libro en cuestión. Las conclusiones más importantes del trabajo son que la mayoría de los arabismos elegidos y analizados son sustantivos; se introdujeron cambios estructurales a la mayoría de los arabismos elegidos; más de la mitad de los mismos no sufrieron ningún cambio semántico; la mayoría de las palabras en la muestra seleccionada no cambiaron ni su género ni su número; y, por último, muy pocos de ellos cambiaron en cuanto a su clase o a su estructura interna. ABSTRACT The existence of the Arabs in Al-Andalus for eight centuries not only had left a scientific, cultural, religious, architectural legacy but also a linguistic one, an aspect that concerns us in this work. This study intends to investigate the veracity or preciseness of the attributions and definitions which Antonio Giol y Soldevilla in his book «Palabras Españolas de Origen Árabe» gives to the Arabism. Not all the Arabisms mentioned in the book will be analyzed; a group of them will be selected to be subjected to analysis on different linguistic levels: phonetics, orthography, semantics and lexis. Moreover, this study will highlight the influence that the Arabic language has on the Spanish language in its different domains. Diverse Spanish and Arabic dictionaries will be used with the purpose of verifying the meanings of the words comparing them with the provided ones in the book in question. The most important conclusions of the study are that most of the selected and analyzed Arabisms are nouns; structural changes were introduced to most of the selected Arabisms; more than half of them didn’t suffer any semantic change; most of the words in the selected sample didn’t change its gender nor number; and very few of them changed regarding their class or their internal structure.
