In this paper, I will discuss the process of the creation of the Hunminjeongeum by analyzing King Sejo's Buddhist proverb-unraveling project, and summarize the many unrecorded trials and errors and the twists and turns in the process of the creation of the new script, including the principles of the character matrix and orthography as seen in the example books, and the background of the times.
