Abstract: This Process Paper includes research on second language acquisition, with a leaning towards information for student learning in French Immersion at the elementary school level. It also includes the description of the process for developing the Major Project, a website to help support parents in fostering the learning of their French Immersion children at home. The Major Project Process Paper was to answer the following Critical Challenge Question: “How can parents with children in French Immersion programs be supported to utilize specific tools, strategies and resources to both enhance language acquisition and foster student success?” With the question and research in mind, a website was designed for parents so that they could better understand the French Immersion program itself and have tools and resources to support the learning of their children. It was important that the website be easily accessed by the non-French speaking parent, as most French Immersion parents do not speak French. ...
